SCHEDULE VARIED WET WEATHER EXPEDIENT f reversion in few days Aerodrome conditions at Darton Field, which recently enforced a change in the provisions for accommodating the Union Airways’ D.H.86 plane overnight, have occasioned a further adjustment in the service on the Palmerston Nortli-Napier-Gis-borne route. As a result of the change, which will be effective only so long as adverse weather prevents the flooring of the hangar at Gisborne’s aerodrome being used, this terminus will be visited each afternoon by the plane, the morning service being suspended. During the recent wet weather, the plane has maintained a service which enabled travellers by air from Gisborne to leave at 7 a.m., and reach Napier in good time to connect with the main trunk air service to Wellington and the South Island. Air mail dispatches by this service were delivered in all the man centres of the Dominion on the same day. The Temporary Schedule The adjustment now made by Union Airways will necessitate corresponding adjustments in the plans of air travel enthusiasts. The temporary schedule tor the Gisborne-Napier-Pal-mer’ston North link has been arranged as under:— Northbound daily. Palmerston North, depart 1 p.m.; Napier, depart 2 p.m.; Gisborne, arrive 2.45 p.m. Southbound. —Gisborne, depart 3 v.m.; Napier, depart 3.55 p.m.; Palmerston North, arrive 4.45 p.m. The plane will stay at Palmerston North overnight during the currency of this time-table, which Union Airways’ officials state 'will be scrapped immediately a return to the normal schedule is rendered possible by an improvement in the weather. Services for Travellers Travellers leaving Gisborne by the plane at 3 p.m. will be able to connect at Napier with the 4.24 p.m. train for Palmerston North, arriving at the Manawatu centre at 9 p.m.; or alternatively may proceed by servicecar leaving Napier at G p.m. and reaching Palmerston North at 9.30 p.m. Those wishing to proceed to Wellington have the option of travelling to Palmerston North by plane, and connecting with a service car which reaches Welington at 9.45 p.m. Mails dispatched by plane from Gisborne will connect with the trunk air services operating on the following day. Inward air mails received daily at Gisborne, however, will include dispatches made on the same day from all the main Dominion centres. The new schedule comes into operation to-morrow, and it is hoped that before the end of the week it will be possible to re-institute the normal time-table
