SIDE TO MEET AUSTRALIA (Reed. Aug. 3,2 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 2. Scotland’s team to play the Australian cricketers has been announced as follows: —Gibb, Baxter, Davidson, Sheppard, Laidlaw, Symon, BalLantvne, Walker, Wass, Hunt and Martin. INTERNATIONAL PLAN GERMAN SUGGESTION (Reed. Aug. 3, 2.40 p.m.) BERLIN, Aug. 2. Felix Menzel, the German cricket leader, is urging England to organise an international cricket tournament. He said: “Unlike football, cricket is soothing and peaceful.” He suggests that Marylebone should play Belgium, Holland, Germany and Denmark. UMPIRES FOR FIFTH TEST (Reed. Aug. 3, 2.40 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 2. Messrs. F. Chester and F. Walden have been appointed as umpires for the fifth cricke test of the season between England and Australia. The game, which is to be played at the Oval, is due to open on August 20.
