PRACTICALLY ALL PASSED
WOOL SALE OFFERINGS
LOW AUCKLAND PRICES
(Par Press Association.)
AUCKLAND, this day
About two-thirds of the first three catalogues were passed in the Auckland winter wool sale to-day. Though buyers bid keenly the offers did not approach the farmers' ideas of values. There were ironical cheers when a single lot was sold after many passings. The bench included buyers from Bradford, America, the Continent and local mills. Crutchings, which comprised the majority of the 1534 bales offered, were very heavy in condition, on account of the wet season. On a clear-scoured basis, prices were about on a par with the three sales held last week at other North Islanc? centres.
In an early catalogue, the best crutchings sold from b'id to 73d, aver' age, 5d to 6d, and inferior 4d to 4ijd. A few bales of lambs' wool brought 7d to 8d and fleece wool 8d to lOd.
