TAUBER'S FORMER WIFE
CLAIM FOR MONEY FAILS
VIENNA, July 19
Judgment was given in favour of Richard Tauber, the tenor, whose former wife, Carlotta Vanconti, sued him for £IOO a month alimony and for arrears amounting to £4OOO, under an agreement alleged to have been made when he obtained a divorce.
Carlotta Vanconti was found guilty in 1936 in Vienna of blackmail, and was sentenced to two months' imprisonment, the sentence being suspended on condition that she was of good behaviour for three years. In 1030, during their separation, she had asked for further alimony and threatened to publish her memoirs of Taubers private life. Tauber obtained a divorce from her in 1936.
