BRIDE'S MOTHER CRIED

MISS MENUHIN MARRIED CALIFORNIAN CEREMONY LOS GATOS, (CAL.), July 10. Members of the two families and 35 guests witnessed the simple afternoon wedding ceremony when Miss Hephzibah Menuhin was married today to Mr. Lindsay Nicholas, of Victoria. The bride, who did net betray any thought of the sacrifice of her professional career as a pianist, crossed the lawn on her father's arm, and met the bridegroom 20ft. from the satin-covered table under the oak tree in the garden of her father's home where the ceremony took place. The crescent-shaped altar was banked with white gladioli and delphiniums, and the ceremony, which was without music, was performed by the magistrate, Mr. A. H. Bell. No Flowers For Bride The bride wore a gown of white organza and a large white picture hat. She did not carry flowers, but wore a beautiful string of pearls, the gift of the bridegroom, who also gave her a diamond wrist watch and a diamond bracelet, neither of which she wore. The bride's mother—whose frock was of yellow-flowered georgette—cried softly into her handkerchief during the service, and her father—who nearly forgot to give her away, necessitating gentle prodding—also frequently brushed a hand across his eyes.

' Mrs. Yehudi Menuhin, whose dress was of tucked champagne lace, and Mrs. Edmund Alcock attended the bride, and Mr. Yehudi Menuhin and Dr. Alcock stood with the bridegroom. The lovely garden and the sunny -fternoon proved an idea setting for he small reception which followed 'ho ceremony. The table was banked with summer flowers, and the wedding cake was decorated with several tinv sheep instead cf the customary bridal figures.
