OBITUARY

MRS. EMILY STEC.'OALL • The death occurred at her residence, 30 Awapuni road, on Sunday of Mrs. Emily Steggall, aged G 8 years, wife c,f Mr. George Steggall. She had been failing for about five months. Born in Thames, Mrs. Steggall moved to Wairoa at the age of 20 years and lived there until 35 years ago, when she came to Gisborne. In Wairoa she married Mr. Walter Davis, who predeceased her in 1902. Several years later she married Mr. George Steggall in Gisborne. Besides her husband, the deceased leaves one son. Mr. Valentine Stegsall, Gisborne, and one daughter, Mrs. Dittmer. wife of Major G. Dittmer. Auckland. She is survived also hv her father. Mr. Valentine Savage, Opotiki, who is 'in his ninety-sixth vear. Mr. A. B. Ravage, Wairoa is a brother, and there are also several brothers and sisters residing in Opotiki. The interment took place nl the Makaraka cemetery this afternoon. MRS. J. GEMMELL (Special to thu Herald.) WAIROA, this day. Mrs. Gemmell, wife of Mr. J. Gemmell, the well known ex-representa-tive footballer, died on Saturday night in the Wairoa Hospital. She had been ill only three weeks. The late Mrs. Gemmell was the daughter of Mr. Martin Winiata, r. well known native of Levin, and leaves, besides her husband, two young children. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon at Mohaka, the Rev. Hem) Huata conducting the burial service. The death has occurred of Mr. S. J. Coad. well-known ex-membc- of the Auckland chief post office staff. Mr. C'cad, who joined the service as a boy, for many years was a senior officer of the mail room staff a* Auckland ;...'.! Nelson. A well-known figure tor many years in the Auckland engineering industry. Mr. George Seagar, Parnell, died on Saturday aged 73. Mr, Seagar, who was born in Wellington, was a son of the late Mr, William Seagar, founder of the well-known Auckland engineering firm of Seagar Brothers. An exchange records the death of the widow of the late Mr. T. W, Kirk, who :.jv many years was wellknown all over the Dominion as Director of Horticulture. Mrs. Kirk, who was born in Wellington in 1858, was a member of o;ie of Wellington's very early families. Her grandfather, Mr. Jonas Woodward, who afterwards became secretary to the Treasury and first Public Trustee, landed there in 1840. Mrs. Kirk loaves one son, Mr. B. C. Kirk. Mr. Hans Albertson, a well-known figure on the Port Chalmers waterfront since wool ship clays, passed away last week. He was a sailor of the old school and v/as in the American Navy before coming to New Zealand in a naval ship. Mrs. Albertson survives her husband and her family includes Mr. George Albertson, engineer of the Main Highways Board, formerly of Gisborne. Mr, Albertson retired on superannuation from the, Harbour Board's dock department 10 years ago. ,
