Anonymous Letters
Sir,—So "Relumed Soldier" objects to my use of various pseudonyms. Although possibly he would not agree, I can assure him that these were not. in any way intended to create a false impression. In a personal note to the editor I also give other reasons and I am sure these proved .satisfactory and removed any misunderstanding there may have been. In some instances the same pseudonyms would have proved wholly unsuitable. A correspondent writing against the Government may have signed "Anti-Communist," I would endeavour to show I was also antiCommunist and sign "Anti-Commun-ist No. 2"; "Country"—"Town"; "Nationalist" —"Labour"; "Christian" — "Also Christian" and so on indefinitely. However, even if "Q.S." has contented himself with one non-de-plume he has little room for gratification as he has been answered by his own organisation, presuming of course he is a member of the Returned Soldiers' Association. Person-
ally I am prepared to write just as freely and always sign my name, providing others do the same. Can "Returned Soldier" say as much?—Yours, etc. "PLAIN BILL"
