MORE DEATHS
WAIROA VITAL STATISTICS FIGURES FOR JULY (Horislrt Correspondent.) There were 12 births in the Wairoa district during July, compared with 11 for the corresponding month last year, while the deaths totalled 15, compared with nine. One marriage notice was issued by the registrar, only one being isued in July, 1937. Until the end of July, the total number of births for the year was 98, compared with 87 for the same period last year, while the deaths registered numbered 78, as against 29, the exceptional increase being accounted for by the victims of the Kopuawhara tragedy appearing in the April figures this year. Twenty-nine marriage notices were issued, compared with 23 for the seven months last year. There have been no marriages by the registrar for the year to date, there being seven for the corresponding period lasfe year. The following are the details of the vital statistics for July, the figures for 1937 also being quoted:—
