AIR RAID PRECAUTIONS
DUNEDIN SERVICE FORMED
The need for the protection of the city in the event of an enemy attack has not been neglected by Dunedin citizens, and an air raid precaution service has been formed.
Plans are-being considered fo>- the evacuation in an emergency of women and children from the urban areas. The Mayor or the Superintendent of Police would have power to declare a state of emergency, and all civilian transport would immediately come under the control of the Transport Department. This is one instance of the scope of the scheme.
