Special trains carried 3-182 Otago enthusiasts to Invercargill for the Ranfurly Shield game and several hundred carloads went by road, despite their bad condition after a heavy snowfall. It is estimated that at least 0000 Otagoiles will see the game. All local outdoor sports except the Olago-Southland soccer match are postponed owing to the ground conditions.
