CHECKING OF LOOTING
(Kite. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Aug. 1, 11.50 a.m.) RANGOON, July 31. Further rioting in eight districts brought the casualties to 07 killed and 420 injured.
A detachment of the King's Roya Rifles from Maymyo has arrived a Mandalay and is guarding the marke and pagoda areas.
The military police to-day fired on the rioters, killing one. It is reported that minor trouble has broken out in some of the provinces, including Mandalay.
The Aga Khan has telegraphed from London urging Moslems to respect the customs and faith of the people among whom they live. Yesterday the Rangoon police were compelled to fire on rioters in the suburb of Insein. The trouble seemed to be extending to the suburbs generally and the military police were instructed , to shoot anyone of any nationality attacking or looting.: This evening it was announced that the situation was under control.
