WASHED OFF LEDGE
FISHERMEN DROWNED
TRIPLE SYDNEY TRAGEDY
(Reed. August 1, 10 a.m.) SYDNEY, July 31
Three men were washed off a ledge on North Head this afternoon while fishing. The three were drowned. ■ Two others, who attempted to rescue them, had narrow escapes from death.
The men had climbed down a 300£t. cliff to a flat ridge when a big wave came over and swept them into the water. A heovy sea was running and they were unable to regain the rocks.
The deceased were Charles Coleman, aged 32; his brother, Mervyn, aged 30; and Harry Blackridge, aged 30. All resided at Redfern suburb. The bodies had not been recovered this evening.
