Addressing a large gathering of members of Canadian corps at a veterans' reunion, the Prime Minister of Canada', Mr. W. L. Mackenzie King, stated: "The country sadly needs the jo-operative self-sacrificing spirit of wartime, rather than factors spreading dissension. Co-operation, not conflict, is the keynote in a country cooperating in the Empire and co-oper-ating in the world.

"We must attempt enduring peace by peaceful means. That does not mean that we are never again to be called upon to risk all for the preservation of bur sacred heritage."

At Edmonton, Alberta, a convention of the Canadian Commonwealth Federation adopted a resolution endorsing freedom of action by Canada in the event of war involving the Empire with the right to refuse to participate. Canada was urged to free herself from her present commitments .o Britain.
