Prices of all sections art driltmg downwards, but the undertone is satisfactory. Mr. Neville Chamberlain's reassuring words regarding the international situation did not carry enough conviction to cause a rally. Gilt-edged .securities show a tendency to be easier in tone. Bonds are healthy, with institutional support for Chinese, but Japanese declined . further. The improvement in the European political outlook is not reflected by foreign exchanges. There has been no repatriation of European capital from New York. A small recovery in sterling was 'helped by Japanese gold shares for raw materials. The commodity markets are irregular, though mostly better on balance. Copper touched the highest level since the end of February. Unseasonable weather affected the wool distributive trades, which are doubtful whether they can make up lest ground
