RELIEF OF ANXIETY
MISSING PLANE LOCATED OVERDUE IX ALASKA (Elec. 'l’el. Copyright—United Press Assn.) diced. July 29, 12.15 p.m.) NEW YORK. July 28. The New York office of Mr. J. B. Bicleneil, a Toronto mining magnate, announces lhat it has received word from Toronto (hat Mr. Mitchell Hepburn. (he '.Premier of Ontario, and a party including Mr. Bickneil and Mr. Bernardo Smith, a noted New York stock market operator, and a pilot, whose plane had been reported as hours overdue at Juneau, Alaska, are safe. The party left White Horse, Yukon Territory, yesterday, en route to Juneau, a distance of 135 miles, in Mr. BickncH's Amphibian. When they failed to arrive cn time, aviators were of the opinion that the plane may have been forced down near Skagway, which was out of contact, but it was pointed out that the plane could complete the trip in two hours, even against strong head winds. The message to Mr. Bicknell's New York office stated that the party spent the night at Carcross, Alaska. Information reached Toronto Ay telephone from Yukon, but no details were given. CVlecnwhile, tiie Washington, United States, army signal corps had reported that it had received a radio message from Skagway, stating that the plane had turned back from Skagway >o Carcross on account of fog.
Earlier messages staled that the United States weather bureau had reported Hying conditions in the area extremely poor and that the airline bases at Skagway and Carcross, Alaska, had been ordered to begin an immediate search. The pilot of the plauc is .James Townc, of Toronto.
