ARBITRATION REFUSED
SEIZED U.S.-OWNED FARMS MEXICO’S ATTITUDE (Reed. July 29, 9 a.m.) MEXICO CITY, July 28. The Mexican President, General Cardenas, has intimated that Mexico will reject the demand of the United States for arbitration regarding the expropriation of American-owned farms which the United States made a week ago. He hinted that Mexico considers nothing is to be gained by arbitration, since he had previously expressed a desire to make indemnities, providing a cash payment was not demanded. “Mexico is anxious to pay for everything expropriated, but this will be impossible unless the petroleum can be sold abroad,” added General Cardenas
