The announcement was received with much regret by members of the club. At the instance of Mr. Somervell, it was decided to place on record Mr. Robertson’s splendid services. Mr. Somervell stated that Mr. Robertson had had the distinction of being the first member of the Poverty Bay club to be elected to the presidency of the centre, and he had worked hard in the interests of the game. Several other members eulogised Mr. Robertson’s past services, and it was pointed out that his refusal of nomination as delegate might not preclude Mr. Robertson acting as secretary of the centre.
