BOWLERS APPRECIATION

MR. N. H. SHAW’S WORK

CLUB SECRETARY RETIRES

The valuable work done by Mr. N. FI. Shaw as secretary of the Poverty Bay Bowling Club was emphasised by Mr. C. Blackburn, president of the club, at last evening’s annual meeting. The president said that Mr. Shaw had retired from the secretaryship, a post he had held for the past 10 years. During this period Mr. Shaw had proved himself an example of what a secretary should be. At the instance of the chairman, a motion of appreciation was passed. Mr. George Moore, in seconding it, added that on and off the green Mr. Shaw had proved himself a gentleman. The club had been very fortunate in having Mr. Shaw as secretary. Mr. Shaw replied that he had derived great satisfaction from his duties, and he had every confidence in his successor, Mr. D. J. Duncan. Mr. Shaw said that when he first took up.his duties the club had a debt of £720 and during his term this had been reduced to £321.
