RACES TO-MORROW
MO CHANGE IN PLANS POSTPONEMENT REFUSED END OF RAUINU YEAR PROVISION FOB PUBLIC The Poverty Bay Tun Club has decided to hold its winter race meeting to-morrow and Saturday as planned. Application was made to the Minister of Internal Affairs, the lion. W. E Parry, for permission to postpone he meeting to Saturday and Monday, in view ef. the soli state of the track, but a reply was received to-day that in view of the racing year ending on Saturday the application to hold a portion of the meeting next weak could not be granted. The club was advised that the meetings set down for the current racing year must not extend into the new year, and that if any days were unused during the current period, which closes on Saturday, they must be sacrificed.
Accordingly, the club has had no alternative but to continue with its original plans, and special arrangements are being made for the comfort of patrons.
Realising that conditions would be very damp underfoot, the club has arranged for a supply of hessian and mi bales of straw. The hessian will be spread in the rights-of-way and in every part which the public will use must, including the vicinky of the tolalisator house, and the straw will be plaesxl on the hessian. This should materially reduce the amount of mud created, and with the weather clearing patrons should not be placed at any inconvenience.
In addition, provision is being made fcr the convenience of patrons who do not desire to leave the stand to make their investments, and they will he able to secure tolalisator tickets in the stand.
POINT-TO-POINT MEETING
FRIDAY'S PARK FIXTURE
The Poverty Hay Hunt Club will hoid its annual point-to-point meeting at the Park Domain on Friday. The Park Domain Board has granted the club permission to hold its hunting events on this ground, and as the

Good entries for the events have been received from local hunting enthusiasts and six horses from Wairoa also are arriving to compete at the meeting. The programme starts at 2 p.m. with the Lightweight Steeplechase, and will be followed by the Hunters' Trial for Men. the Heavyweight Steeplechase, the Hunters' Trial for Ladies, and a jumping competition for children 15 years and under.
