INQUEST ON CHILD
DIED IN, PARENTS’ BED Death due to shock following acute intestinal obstruction \vas the verdict of the coroner, Mr. E. L. Walton, S.M., at the inquest this afternoon into the death on Saturday of Lawrence James Bartie. two years four months, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander W. Bartie, 4,64' Ormond road. 1 The inquest was conducted by Constable Heaslip. Dr- fC M. 'Gunn said he visited the home of the deceased and found that the boy had 'been dead for at least an hour. The father of the child said that the deceased had been ailing in recent months and, despite medical assistance, continued to have vomiting turns. Early on Saturday morning the child, who would not have any tea, awoke and was given a drink of hot water. The boy was taken into his parents’ bed and seemed to go to sleep. Later he found that the child had collapsed and the doctor was called. Dr. Harold Angell, who performed a post-mortem, said that death, in his opinion, resulted from shock following acute intestinal obstruction.
