Army Mechanisation
j THE British army recently carried I out a most interesting experiment in army manoeuvres when a wholly mechanised division was moved GO miles from Salisbury Plain to a point in Hampshire in 30 hours, under war time conditions. It is stated that this is the first time on record when such an exercise was | attempted on such a large scale. ! A British Army mechanised division at war, strength possesses 2,G00 | vehicles, including motor cycles and ■ cars. Trucks to carry the dismounted personnel bring the total to over 3,000 vehicles. I The main object ot the manoeuvre was to discover the best method of dealing with a mechanised division when on the move, both by day and by night.
