PLANS FOR REPAYMENT
N.Z. DEBT IN LONDON OVER £17,000,000 MATURING (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The Government is already making the necessary preliminary arrangements to meet the situation which will arise next financial year, when more than £17,000,000 of New Zealand’s t debt matures in London. This was indicated by the Minister of Finance, the Hon. W. Nash, in an interview yesterday. The Minister was unable to give any idea of the actual methods to be adopted by the Government to repay. , “But we have set the necessary machinery in motion already,” he said, “and have a clear picture in our minds of what will be done to meet our obligations. It is too early yet to state definitely what our plans are.”
The amount' maturing is £17,173,191, and is due between April 1, 1939, and March 31,. 1940.
