MANY RECENT VISITORS BLEDISLOE CUP WINNERS EXAMPLE TO BOTH RACES The model piggery established by Mr. G. Brown, Fuha, has attracted many visitors from distant parts of the district. Mr. Brown, who is a member of the Maori race, has set a standard a s an example to both the Maori and European, and the visitors to his Waimanu Piggery have included members of both races. Among' those who called there dur. ing the past week were the joint Ahuwhenua Trophy winners. This trophy was presented by Lord Blesisloe, past Governor-General of New Zealand, to encourage Maori farm improvement, and the trophy was won this year by Mr. J. Black, Ruatoki, and Mr. Whareparoa Rcwharewha, Torere, who were bracketed first. Interest in Lay-Out On their way home from the Wairoa hui, where they were presented with the trophy, Messrs. Black and Rewharewha called at the Waimanu Piggery, and displayed great interest in the lay-out and the stock. Although they are progressive farmers, a s indicated by the winning of the trophy, they realised that they should be able to effect great improvements in regard to pig-raising.
Ollier recent visitors included Messrs L. and T. Hughes, Micks Bay. Mr. T. McClutehie, Ruatoria, Messrs A. Donald and A. Sadlicr, Tolaga Bay, and Mr. T. Davis, custodian of the Kntarere Pig Club. Opotiki.
Mr. D. G. Beattie, supervisor tor the Bay of Plenty-Poverty Bay District Pig Council, has held up the Waitnanu Piggery as an example, and he has prevailed upon all interested to make a point of visiting it with a view to improving the general methods adopted in swine'husbandry Manv of the visitors have seen the result of the knowledge lie has disseminated among the pig club members of the Gisborne, Coast and Bav of Plenty districts.
