Senior-Sergeant J. F. H. Macna mara returned to Gisborne yesterday from a short visit to Auckland. Mr. C. L. Mac Diarmid has been reelected chairman of the Hamilton High School Board of Governors for his eighteenth term. Mr. and Mrs. Colin Campbell, Ruakituri, were the guest? Campbell’s sisters, Mesdames Minns, Garrett and Gibbs, while spending a week in Gisborne. v
Sir Andrew Russell, Hawke’s Bay, is paying a short visit to Gisborne, and is staying with his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Russell, Ngatapa.
The inspector of police, Mr. G. B. Edwards, returned to Gisborne yesterday afternoon after visiting Wellington and Wanganui, and resumed duty this morning.
Mr J. Wood, C.M.G., Engineer-in-Chief and Under-Secretary of the Public Works Department, and chairman of the Main Highways Board, who is at nresent in Australia, is expected to return to New Zealand early in July. Messrs. C. H. Williams, L. H. L. Maclean and Lawson Field were appointed yesterday afternoon to represent the Poverty Bay and East Coast Srieepfarmers’ Union at the annual conference of the New Zealand Sheepowners’ Federation, to be held on July 27 in Wellington.
Arrangements have been made by the Far East Relief Committee for the return to. New Zealand of Dr. H. Tremewan and Di\ R. B. Grey, who are at present working in' China. They are to leave Hongkong by the Nankin on October 1, arriving at Wellington by the Wanganella on October 25.
