“A STUPID PRANK” (P«r Press Association.) , HOKITIKA, this day. In the Magistrate’s Court, yesterday, Joseph 'Martini, a salesman, was charged with issuing a false document purporting that he was subpoenaea, which resulted in the recipient making a journey from Weheka, 100 miles below Hokitika, to attend the court.
The magistrate convicted acid fined the defendant £3, stating he thought it was a stupid prank, otherwise the maximum penalty would have been inflicted.
