BIG TROT DIVIDEND

MUNGATOON AGAIN STEEPLES TO SANTOFT LAZYBONES' SPRINT (Por Press Association.) TIMARU, this day. The South Canterbury Jockey Club's meeting was concluded in fine weather before a good attendance on Saturday. The totalisator handled £16,612 10s against £13,818 10s on the second day last year, making a total for the meeting of £28,155 10s, against £24.312 10s. The track was on the soft side. A record dividend for the course, was posted when Easter Rush won the Wai-Iti Trot in the South Canterbury Handicap. Studley Royal fell and brought down Davolo, and the latter broke a foreleg and was destroyed. The rider, G. Watson, broke his collarbone. Results: —

Survoy and Nightbound led most of the way. They were joined by Santoft two fences from home. In an exciting finish, Santoft won by a length from Night: bound, who beat Survoy by a head.
