RETENTION BY CZECHS STRENGTHENING DEFENCES INTENTION OF CABINET (Eloc. Tel. Copyright—Unitod Press Assn.) (Reed. May 6,2 p.m.) PARIS, May 5. The spokesman of the Czech Legation in Paris, discussing .the prospects of a settlement with Germany, said: “The Czech Government has no intention of giving any minority the key to our fortresses.” He added that the Czech Government was working unceasingly to build up the Czech Maginot line, which had been made more vulnerable by the extension of'the German frontier. Several lines of secondary defences were being constructed in Bohemia to protect war industries, which now were decentralised and had been moved inland to Moravia and Slovakia.
