GOING UP FAST
MARSHALLS' STOCKS MATCH WITH PLUTO AUCKLAND ON MONDAY The stjpcks of Clarrie Marshall, the Gisborne professional boxer who made his debut in To Karaka two months ago and has since made good appearances in Auckland and elsewhere, are going up fast. His next opponent is to be the Australian, Cyril Pluto, a welterweight of wide experience and a considerable degree of skill, who lias just reached New Zealand after a tour of England, where lie had some success against '■fading English boxers in his class.
Pluto and Marshall are to meet in Auckland on Monday night, in a match scheduled for, 10 three-minute counds. On form, Pluto should not have a great deal of trouble in holding his own with Marshall, but the ■'uckland association evidently has a lot of time for the Gisborne welterweight, and has given him a big chance to put himself right in the forefront of New Zealand welters.
Their bout will be the chief attraction, on a bill which will include a six-round contest between Johnny Dean, London, and Bob McLachlan, Auckland, two lightweights who have recently made the change from the amateur ranks. It is interesting to note that Marshallq on his previous appearance before the Auckland association, was adjudged the loser in a match with Vic Caltaux. the Hamilton welter;
•-" i d that, he has gone ahead steadily since then, /His ifirst professional fight, in To Karaka early in March, wos with George Allen, Gisborne, to whom he conceded weight, height, and reach.
