MATAWAI NEWS
(Humid Corrospondont.) The National Women’s Committee met in Matawai on Wednesday, and. despite the pouring rain, there was a good attendance. Arrangements were made for a party to be held at “Kaipono,” the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Wright, Motu, on May 14, when there would be dancing and mah-jong. Plans were made for the visit of Mr. and Mrs. W. Sullivan and Mrs. Wilson. Opoliki, who intended being in Matawai on the afternoon of May 23 and would speak in the Public Hall. A “bring-and-buy” stall also has been arranged for that afternoon. The householders’ meeting on Monday was not well attended, and the school committee is as last year Messrs. C. Hustler, secretary, G. R. Robb, W. Thomas, and B. Mazengarb. Owing to the retirement of Mr. R. Fleming, Mr. W. F. Robb was elected chairman.
The Hon. P. C. Webb, Minister erf Mines, proposes visiting Matawai on Friday, May 13, and will speak in the hall, so that the dance planned for that evening will have to be hold some other evening.
