AMATEUR OPERATICS
PRODUCTION INTENDED SOCIETY'S DECISION Following a general discussion at last evening's annual meeting oi the Gisborne Amateur Operatic Society, it was unanimously decided to stage an opera this year. The meeting was attended by 25 members, the presi-' dent. Mr. Mainland L. Foster, being in the chair.
ThcTelection of officers for the ensuing year resulted:—Patron, Mr. H. B. Williams; president, Mr. James Blair; vice-presidents, Messrs. J. S. Wauchop, F. Tolerton, H. Kenway, and C. G. Bayliss; secretary and treasurer, Mr. Mainland L. Foster; committee, Messrs. James Chrisp, W. B. Mitchell. W. F. G. Bigncll, W. Kohn, A. J. Nicol, A. C. Coleman and W. B. Keany. Mr. Bayliss' Services Many expressions of regret were voiced at losing the services of Mr. C. G. Bayliss as secretary. The incoming secretary was instructed to convey to Mr. Bayliss the meeting's warm' thanks and appreciation of his assistance. He had been an active member for many years and had taken a keen interest in the society, both as a performer and as secretary. The hope was expressed that he would return to good health before long. It was resolved to thank Mr. R. J. Kerridge for his consideration and assistance in facilitating the rehearsals and production of "Rio Rita." The appointment of subsidiary officers was deferred.
