SIR JULIAN OAHN'S TEAM SIX WEEKS !.\ DOMINION MATCH FOE SCHOOLBOYS (Tit Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day Tentative arrangements in connection with the visit to the Dominion next season of Sir Julian Cahn's cricket team were discussed by delegates at a meeting of the New Zealand Cricket Council.
Trie side is expected to be here in February and March of 1939. and to play matches over a period of six
The chairman of the council. Mr. D. E. Wanklyn said [hal negotiations had been in progress with Sir Julian Calm, and the management committee had
recently submitted an alternative itinerary to that originally proposed. Travelling in -New Zealand was usually arduous, and Sir Julian did not wish his team to be over-worked.
As the opening fixture, he had suggested a match again a Mew Zealand schoolboy eleven, and the committee thought that was an excellent idea. It would give the leading schoolboys experience against players who were nearly in world class.
Games against the associations woidd follow. The itinerary would extend over approximately six weeks, but in the short lime available, added Mr. Wanklyn. there would not be an opportunity to play all of the minor
associations. In that connection, it must be remembered the New Zealand Council could not enforce its own views. The team was a private one. coming almost entirely at Sir Julian Cahn's own expense. The burden on the New Zealand council would be very, very little.
