WEDDING OF PRINCESS
SPLENDOUR RECALLED FORMER EMPIRES BERLIN, May 2. Dressed in a crinoline gown of silver l&rocade, which was worn by her grandmother, the Grand Duchess Marie-Alexandrovna. when she was married to the Duke of Edinburgh in 1874, Princess Kyra, second daughter of the Grand Duke Cyril, heir to the Throne of the Tsars, was married at a civil ceremony to Prince Louis Ferdinand, the ex-Kaiser's favourite grandson, heir to the Hohenzollern estates. The ceremony took place at the Cecilian Hof, the former Crown Prince's residence, near Potsdam. after which a Russian marriage service took place in the presence of 100 royalties. The men wore brilliant uniforms of the Russian and German Imperial armies, and the women wore diadems, recalling the splendour of the former empires. The couple will visit the ex-Kaiser at Doom on Wednesday, when they will be marrted according to German Evangelical rites. The presents include a gift from Queen Mary. Both the bride and the bridegroom are great-grandchildren of Queen Victoria.
