NEGLIGENCE CHARGE 1 'j DEATH OP MOTOR-CYCLIST i (Pur Truss Association*) TIMARU, this day. 1 After a hearing lasting two days, a ' jury in the Supreme Court last night ! returned a verdict of not guilty on both counts in a case against Bernard 1 James Simmons, aged 22, who was I charged witli negligently drving a car ! at Pleasant Point, on March 18, thereI by causing the death of James Samuel Bell and causing bodily injury to 1 George Thomas Keen. Mr. Keen also i succumbed to his injuries some days after the accident, which occurred in the early hours of the morning after a dance. Messrs. Bell and Keen were on a motor-cycle and came intc collision with the car on a dead straight road.
