INTER-ISLAND RUGBY
SYSTEM OF SELECTORS THREE IN EACH AREA WELLINGTON, this day. The council of the Neiw Zealand Rugby Union last night decided that the annual North Island v. South Island match be played at Wellington on Saturday, June 4. It was decided to call lor nominations for three South Island selectors iiul three North Island selectors and a New Zealand sole selector, the nominations to be in the hands of 'fcc council by May 12. The next meeting of the council was fixed for June li at Wellington, the night before the inter-Island match. The managers for the New Zealand team to tour Australia, and the New Zealand Maori team to tour Fiji this season will be appointed at this meeting. Mr.i ,s. ;S. Dean was re-elected chairman of the council.
REFEREES' CONFERENCE ANSWER TO CRITIC CERTAIN AMOUNT OP GOOD (Pit Proxs Axsioi'.iiitlon.) WELLINGTON, this day. During discussion at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Rugby Union yos!"i'dsiy, Mr. A \. Adams, of West Coast, said, that in his opinion, the annual conference of the New Zealand Referees' Association dirl more harm than good. Resolutions went out from these conferences which only mystified country referees. Mr. S, S. Dean said that if the referees wanted to have uniformity of rules, they should send out to the unions a copy of the proceedings at the conferences. The conferences did a certain amount of good, but the delegates often came away from them with wrong impressions.
