CITY BLOCK BOUGHT

BROADCASTING SERVICE PURCHASE AT £30,000 (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. At a price understood to be near £30,000, the National Broadcasting Service has purchased from the A. R. Harris Company, Ltd., the building in Gloucester street, between Manchester street and Latimer Square, at present occupied by the company and stations 3YA and 3YL and the land at the rear of the building. Further buildings on the vacant land are projected.

However, when the Press communicated by telephone with Professor J. Shelley, director of broadcasting in Wellington, last evening, he said: "We shall not be doing any extensions for some lime. That is a matter for future planning. The use of the whole building for broadcasting purposes depends on the tenancies."
