MATAWAI, this day, Although a few light showers fell at Matawai on Monday and Tuesday nights, the weather during the day was fine and warm for the opening of the Matawai Sheep Dog Trial Club’s field meeting. The great deal of interest the fixture had aroused amongst residents of the district was shown by the many cars parked on the grounds. Two classes, long head and hold in ring, .and short head and yard, have been commenced, but up to last evening neither had been completed. Owing to the late arrival of some of the competitors, tne committee decided to postpone the completion of Class I and to proceed with the short head and yard. Good entries have been received for the fixture, and some fine performances have been witnessed.
