The Chrisp Stars were captured yesterday afternoon by two members of the Te Hapara Tennis Club, Mrs. N. Clarke and Miss T. Muirhead, from the holders, Mesdames G. Heighway and E. R. Brown, of the Whataupoko Club. It was the first time that members of the Te Hapara club had won the inter-club trophies. The matches were closely contested and were followed by an interested gallery. Miss Muirhead beat Mrs. Heighway, 9—7, and Mrs. Clarke, who showed splendid form, beat Mrs. Brown, 9—3. The walls of the new fire station in Gisborne will be raised to the level of the first floor by the Easter holidays, if there is no change in the weather between now and that date, according to a statement made today by the contractor, Mr. J. Webb. An indication of the size of the building can be gained now that the walls and partitions have taken shape. The contractor could not say when the work would be completed because that fact so largely depended on good weather. The carpenters have started on the last of the four flats on the station property and within the next day or two the framework will be erected. As soon as the work has progressed to a certain stage on this flat the interior work in the others will be completed.
