Mr. John Young Hannay who iias died at Napier at the age of 05, was born at Belfast in 1843. Mr. Hannay came to New Zealand at the nge of 19 in tbe ship Indian Empire. He saw service in the Maori Wars with ■Jacksqn’s Forest Rangers in the Waikato. Mr. Hannay had lived at Napier for the past 60 years.
