RECRUITING STIMULATED

BRITISH REGULARS

HIGHEST FOR YEARS

(British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, March 15,

Although the new benefits for the army were not made known by the War Minister, Mr. L. Hore-Belisha, until last Thursday, the announcement has already had a stimulating effect on the recruiting, for the regular army. The recruits for the London area during last week numbered 119—an increase of 45 over the corresponding period last year, and the highest intake for that week for many years.

Replying to a question in the House of Commons, Mr. Hore-Belisha said that the intake of recruits for the army was 44 per cent greater for last month than in the corresponding month last year.

The average increase for the last seven months over the corresponding earlier period was 33 per cent.
