AUCKLAND INCREASE # UNIVERSITY ENROLMENTS (Per Press Association.) , AUCKLAND, this day. A substantial increase in the number of enrolments of first-year students as compared with the figures last year has taken place at the Auckland University College. A total of 962 students had enrolled to date, as against 866 for the corresponding period last year, stated the registrar, Mr. L. O. Desborough, yesterday, and it was expected that this figure would be materially increased by the end of the year. Enrolments in the faculty of music were almost doubled, the registrar pointed out, while substantial increases had taken place in the students for arts and science.

The figures for the commercial section had been well maintained. The numbers enrolled to date in the various faculties are as follow: Arts 422 Science 130 Commercial .. 158 Law 79 Engineering 52 Architecture 40 Music 37 Medical 18 Agriculture 5 Dental 1 1 Journalism 20
