CONGREGATIONAL CALL
WARNING AGAINST HATE PAGAN FEROCITY (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. Various reports presented yesterday to the annual assembly of the Congregational Union of New Zealand revealed satisfactory progress in all departments of the church activities. It was recorded that £1540 had been raised for foreign mission work during the year. In the evening, the Rev. Norman Burgess delivered the union sermon. “We are living on the edge of hell,” he said. “In the realms of economics, international relationships and religion there is considerable darkness. A harvest of hate is being reaped and brotherhood is being taught by brutal methods. Pagan ferocity is clouding Christianity. Only God, through our loyalty to Him, can bring in new life.” The assembly will conclude to-day.
