A. general examination of the whole of the? electric supply system of New Zealand was to be undertaken by the Government, said the Hon. R. Semple, Minister of Public Works, in. replying to a deputation of settlers in Napier. “I am entirely in sympathy with the deputation,” said the Minister in reply. "I have been looking at this problem for some time. There are 20,000 people in New Zealand who have been pleading for the privilege of electric power, and I have said over and over again that they are entitled to it, although there are difficulties in the way. There have been changes- in the law and there is now a little •more elasticity in regard to guarantees. That enables me to compromise upon the question.” .
