SUCCESS IN AUSTRALIA
N.Z. TENNIS GIRLS MANAGER’S HIGH PRAISE (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. “They were the best lot we have sent over, and the results far exceeded our expectations,” said Mr. George Gore, manager of the New Zealand girls’ team sent to Australia by the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association •to compete in the New South Wales “age championships.” With the exception of Miss Kathleen Armstrong, of Christchurch, who is holidaying with her parents, all the players returned by the Awatea. Mr. Gore said each one had distinguished herself, and the comment that they were the best ever sent over was the opinion of Australian critics.
Mr. Gore said that W. Sidwell, the Australian boy who with Miss Pam Cooke won the combined doubles, was the outstanding player of the tournament, cleaning up everything before him. He is regarded as the coming hope of Australia in Davis Cup matches.
