COMMITTEE MEETING
PUPILS’ OUTING At Monday evening meeting of the Gisborne Central School Committee satisfaction was expressed that the new infant school, which had been needed for so long, w r as at last' nearly finished, and in a discussion on ground improvements it was agreed that the school should be a model one.. Following a report from the headmaster, Mr, J. E. Shimmin, on the successful outing of Stds, V and VI pupils to the Motu bush, the possibility of arranging a trip toWaihirer. e for the younger children was discussed. The hope was expressed that the event would take place at an early date.
The headmaster also reported that there were GIG pupils on the school roll and that the average attendance for the month was 92.2 per cent. One of the probationary assistants, Mr. Johnstone, had been transferred to Patutahi and bis place had been taken by Mr. J. O’Rourke. The special school under the charge of Miss McDiamid had an attendance of 1G children.
Referring to the successful combined school swimming sports on March 15, Mr. Shimmin mentioned that the gate takings, £9 7s Gd, had been earmarked for repairs to the swimming bath. r
