A cross-river race was swum yesterd; W by pupils of the Wairoa District High School for two medals donated by Dr. E. B. Jardine, one each for boy and girl winners. Ttie handicapping was according to age. Results were:—Boys.—T. Svenson, 1; P. Baker, 2; R. Hansen, 3. Girls,—Nancy Highet, 1; Jessie Barclay, 2; Pat Highet, 3.
