SWIMMING TITLE MEET MISS MCKNIGHT’S TWO A DOUBLE FOR IL OLAY (Special to the Herald.) NAPIER, this day. Five titles were won by Gisborne Surf and Swimming Club members, competing last night in the first portion of the Hawke’s Bay Swimming Centre’s championship carnival in Napier. Miss H. McKnight won the 440yds. and 220yds. women’s championship races, and R. Clay also carried off a double, winning the 100yds. and 50yds. bovs’ intermediate races; while in P. Balfour, Gisborne furnished another schoolboy champion over 50yds. In the teams’ race of 440yds., for the Kinross White Cup, Heretaunga won from Havelock North and Gisborne, after a close and exciting race. The Hawke’s Bay Herald Cup points competition list was headed, at the close of the first night’s programme, by the Gisborne representatives,_ wno had 23 points as against Napier’s 21, Heretaunga being well back and Havelock North, Mahora and Te Awa being definitely out of the running for the cup.
