EFFORTS FOR PROTECTION VISIT TO WELLINGTON Continuing their efforts to seek protection for the maize industry, representatives of the Poverty Bay Maize Growers' Association left Gisborne this morning to meet officers of the Department of Agriculture and the Minister of Finance, the Hon. W. Nash, in Wellington. Yesterday afternoon, a telegram was received from Mr. A. G. Hultquist, MP asking that Messrs. G. W. Armstrong and C. Tietjen should visit Wellington to-day and meet the Minister and representatives of the Department of Agriculture this afterneon. Messrs. Armstrong and Tietjen left this morning by air service, and expect to return to Gisborne at the end of the week.
