PLUNGE OVER BANK
SERVICE CAR UPSET THREE OCCUPANTS HURT NORTH AUCKLAND SMASH (Pbr Press Association.) WHANGAREI, this day. One man was seriously injured and a boy was hurt when the PaparoaWhangarei service car left the road and rolled down a 40ft. bank. Theaccident occurred on a narrow stretch of. road following an impact with another car.
(Those injured are: George Mills, a middle-aged man, who suffered head and internal injuries; E. Levalliant, aged about 14 years, of Moeware. Who suffered bruises and shock; and C. Shoebridge, the driver of th<? service car, injuries to his left arm. In addition there was another adult in the car and five children, all escaping injury.
Mr. Mills, who was sitting in the front seat, apparently was thrown out. He was conscious when a doctor arrived, but the task of carrying him up the bank to the road was difficult and eight men were required to get hirii to the ambulance. He was taken to the Whangarei Hospital.
Mr. Mills, who resides at 83 Glenfield road, Birkenhead, is the chairman of the Auckland division of the National Party. The hospital reports that his condition is satisfactory.
