EMPIRE GAMES OPENING N.Z. TEAM’S.PROSPECTS POSITION OP CYCLISTS (Elec. Tel. Copyrights—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Feb. 5, 1.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, Feb'. 5. The weather for the opening of the Empire Games is cool and cloudy. The forecast is for some thunder and showers, and possibly hail. The manager of the New Zealand team. Mr. McCormack, has cabled to the authorities in New Zealand asking for instructions in connection with the refusal of the cyclists to sign a bond not to turn professional. The cyclists’ first race is scheduled for Tuesday night. Discussing the New Zealanders’ prospects at the Games, Mr. McCormack said: “The team on the whole is well. We are looking forward to obtaining a moderate amount of success and also gaining valuable experience.”
