CONCESSION GRANTED
BRITISH COAL MEASURE SAFEGUARDING CONSUMERS (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 12 noon RUGBY, Feb. 4. In view of the criticism of certain aspects of the Government Coal Bill, the president of the Board of Trade, Mr. Oliver Stanley, granted certain concessions when the oill was discussed in committee in the House of Commons.
The compulsory amalgamation of collieries and colliery undertakings, however, is still to remain a principle of the second part of the bill, but it is to operate under safeguards more closely drawn than those in the bill as it was introduced.
A deputation representing coal consumers will wait on the Prime Minister, Mr. Neville Chamberlain, on Monday, regarding safeguards in the bill for consumers.
